OneCompassion celebrated Read Across America Day by reading to students at Cooper Academy in Clayton, NC.

The national day is celebrated on March 2, Dr Seuss’s birthday, and is aimed at helping kids get excited about reading. Volunteers visited classrooms throughout the day to read children’s books to students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

“Thank you to everyone in the community who stopped by today to read with our students and celebrate the importance of literacy!,” said school administrators. “We had a great time together reading some exciting stories with our students!”

Students at Cooper have been challenged by their principal, Mr. Jamie Stoke, to ready a million pages, collectively this year. To give them a little extra motivation, he and the assistant principal, Dr. Leonhardt, have agreed to take a pie in the face if they meet their goal.
